rough night...

Dad was very restless all night, kept calling out and punching at something in his dreams, then later, a couple of stealthy predawn strolls in the room. Thank goodness for grippy socks! oh and thank goodness for recliners to catch a few winks this afternoon - both of us.

Tomorrow is Monday, good menu day, he agreed with all of the choices. Big favorites like red beans & rice for lunch and spaghetti & meat sauce for supper. Even the cantaloupe choice was well received as he said, "they can't mess up cantaloupe." I think he is getting his appetite back, Praise God!

  1. Karen, how great his appetite is returning and feels good enough to fiddle with his IV! You're wise to take things as they come and not "pre-stress" yourself. No doubt this blog can be very cathartic for you at a time when there are so many thoughts and emotions swirling. This is tough stuff - being a nurse probably makes it worse in some ways.

    Hugs,

  2. thanks, Lisa, you know this very well. I had thought of writing things down to help with processing this stuff. I have found that it helps, esp when in the hospital and I go out to the family waiting room or the corridor with the sofas and I can drink my coke zero, cry, write, then feel more calm.
